one wishes to accompany rather than be the center of attention

so that at times the music is almost barely noticeable,

and at others radiates an uplifting spirit and vitality

attentive and responsive at all times to people and surroundings

never to impose a mood, or interfere with the possibility of intimate conversion

always to imply the dance and rhythm and joy of life

so that when it stops you know that something is missing

and when it starts again, you relax once more

into an atmosphere imbued with friendship and good company
